26th of March, 2014 Someone just contacted me, requesting an online application with automated grading. Flubaroo is the first thing that springs to mind. Flubaroo is a free application that allows you to grade assignments quickly and provide grading results to your students through email. I’ve started using it with my pupils and am quite pleased with the results. A step-by-step tutorial to using Flubaroo to automatically grade quizzes generated in Google Forms is provided below. You must first build your quiz using Google Forms (if you don’t know how to do so, see this tutorial). Once you’ve completed your quiz, email it to yourself and answer all of the questions ( you will know why later on). The first answer to your quiz will be your submission. Send your pupils the quiz form now.
You’ll see a Spreadsheet called “Responses” in your Drive. This is the sheet where you’ll see the students’ responses as well as your initial contribution. Within this sheet, choose “script” from the “insert” menu.
In the search box, type Flubaroo and then click “install.”
Allow the app to access your data.
Now, from your spreadsheet, go to Flubaroo and choose “Grade Assignment.”
Choose a grading choice for each of your assignment’s questions, or skip grading if you don’t want to evaluate a question. Then choose “proceed.”
Choose which contribution you’d like to use as the Answer Key now. This is the submission you made when you initially filled out the form. The Answer Key will be used to evaluate all other entries.
A new worksheet named “Grades” will be generated once the grading is finished. This worksheet includes a grade for each submission as well as a top-level overview of all grades.
You may also provide marks and the right response to each student through email. To do so, you should have previously gathered the email addresses of the pupils. Then go to Flubaroo and choose “email grades.”
To include the right answers in your email, choose “Include Answer Key” and then click “Continue.”
